KICS For All
Our initiative to engage at risk youth at Chicago Public Schools with our professional coaching staff who are working to integrate those youth into our KICS Community soccer program year round. Our goal is to activate at risk youth in positive after school programming and share the positive KICS experience with Chicago's children and their families. As KICS 4 All expands, we will work with our local alderman and Chicago community policing to study the effect of after school programming on youth violent crime.
KICS Healthy Kids Campaign
Our campaign is working to fight childhood obesity by educating youth and families and keeping children active through sport. In 2015, in partnership with Mercy Hospital nursing staff and foundation, we measured youth players in our program to show a very healthy average BMI of 16.87 and an obesity/overweight rate of only 14.5% - this was later compared to an average of over 30% inner city obesity/overweight rate. We will continue to strive to show a healthy average BMI youth in KICS programming and share quarterly health tips from our partners at Mercy Hospital.
We are working to educate teens and pre-teens to become state qualified referees to gain an excellent wage and learn a new life skill that will continue to offer employment for years to come.
KICS In The Parks
We are constantly working with the Chicago Park District and other entities to improve and develop parks, playing fields and facilities for Chicago youth and families. One great success story has been the transformation of Dunbar Park over the last 10 years from a rarely used and heavily abused public space, into a vibrant park that is now busy 7 days a week.
"Empowering Global Unity" - We are working to advance peace through soccer with competition, camaraderie and cultural exchange. If the world could speak one language, that language would be soccer. Soccer is our opportunity to speak to one and other to make the world a more peaceful place.
